Important military letter on his fight against the English in Calabria. . "I have been in Calabria for a month and a half, where the delays of my convoys are testing my patience. However I am beginning to see them get together, I am getting organized and preparing to take advantage of the favorable moment. My flotilla has successfully supported several battles against that of the enemy; the English are reuniting their forces on their side, and preparing their means of defence; they have called up several large vessels and fregates &c which they hold embossed in front of my small boats, but for nothing in the world can I detach them from the coast, they do not want to try anything against me, because I provoke them night and day"... An L.A.S. of Princess Caroline MURAT (1833-1902), September 14 [1870] (l page and a half in-8) is attached: "I was really worried when I read the newspapers and I am very happy to know my aunt [Empress Eugenie] is safe"...
