Letter with autograph corrections, [November 26, 1632, to Claude de BULLION] ; the letter is in the hand of his secretary Denis CHARPENTIER ; 1 page in-fol. (small slit at one fold). Rare minute corrected by the Cardinal, instructions to the Superintendent of Finances. Richelieu had fallen seriously ill in Bordeaux: "I don't want to delay any longer in telling you how great my illness has been, but by the grace of God it is diminishing day by day. Tomorrow I will go to Sageon to sleep where I am going to stay until I am completely cured, that is why I beg you, without fail, to send a clerk of the extraordinary wars with money [to keep my company of light horses, and those scratched by Richelieu, who is correcting the situation, alive for a month: to make a monster for the companies of Mr. Cardal de La Valette, the late Mr. Maral de Schomberg, and the srs. de Cluy and de Beauregard, and together give such order as you may deem necessary for the surtaults who have been accosted to yawn on them. You will please inform the King if he wishes to reduce these 5 companies [he adds:] from this hour to the number [to which all the others are usually crossed out by Richelieu who corrects:] which he projected in Thoulouse by your advice, or else if he pleases to leave them on the feet of the effective people of which they are now composed, and will let me know his will on this subject. He adds:] Not knowing what the release of Mr. may have produced of change. I beg you to send the clerk away the next day with money and the necessary orders, and believe me ...
