ELUARD Paul (1895-1952)
Autograph letter signed to Pierre SEGHERS, 2 pp. in-8; on green paper; April 7, 1944. "... You must have received all the pictures and the requested photo. You owe me 2120 F... I am, at this moment, very destitute..." As for the proofs, Éluard is surprised that he has not yet received any: "... It's monstrous, this delay. Come on, come on! Wake up! ...". New restrictions "... have absolutely paralysed publishing...". Éluard therefore advises Seghers not to come and join him. In a postscript, the poet reminds us that he will keep the promise he made to Marie- Claire Kayser; he liked Seghers' "...poems of the last stroke..." and worries about whether the censors will "...keep their approval...".
