HUGO Victor (1802-1885)
Autograph letter from Victor Hugo to HIS WIFE and SON FRANÇOIS-VICTOR, H.H. [Hauteville House], July 11 [1865]; 2 pages in-16 in ink. "I intend to leave on Monday the 15th and arrive in Brussels, Deo volente, on Wednesday the 17th. I have written to Charles. Dear beloved wife, my Victor, I shall be very happy to embrace you. Have my room prepared in the back house as it was, simply, with one or two maids (rather two than one) lying in the next compartment. I still have night spasms, not serious, I think, but which might make absolute isolation dangerous. The journey is a topical against these nervous overexcitations" ... He also gives instructions for the maid and the cook, and complains about his publisher: "M. Lacroix has still not sent me the specimen proof".
