[...]"; L'Épave (4 tercets): "On the jagged coast, like a skeleton / Half devoured by a bloodthirsty beast, / A large fishing boat raises its black silhouette. [...]"; Landscape (32 lines): "The beautiful sunsets / That die on the shore, / And give the silver fl ot / A dreamy languor. [...]"; Le Glas (7 quatrains): "Someone has died in the village? [...]"; Suburb (12 lines): "A filthy tramway creaks up the street/Between two hedges of dusty trees... [...]"; Easter (4 quatrains): "When I entered my village / A cheerful chime welcomed me. The bells sang with rage / On top of the country bell tower. [...]"; La Chauve-Souris (4 quatrains followed by 12 verses) : "When the new day suddenly appeared / Surprised the bat in its nocturnal flight / The striped animal fled madly / Being able to bear only the brightness of the Moon. [...]"; La Mort du Chien (32 verses) : "Huddled in the dark excavation of a quarry / The fur all sticky with sweat and dust / The mouth bleeding and disgusting with slime [...]".
