BOURBON Nicolas (1574-1644) oratorien, poète latin, helléniste et érudit, professeur de grec au Collège de France [AF 1637, 29e f].
L.A.S. "N. Borbonius", [late 1911 or early 1612], to Cardinal Jacques DU PERRON, Archbishop of Sens and Grand Chaplain of France; 1 page folio, address (slight browning on 2 edges); in Latin. Very rare letter in Latin (Raoul Bonnet had counted only two letters from him). The dean of the professors "Marius Ambosius" [Jacques-Marie d'AMBOISE (1538-November 1611), professor of Greek philosophy at the Collège de France] is dead; Bourbon hoped for an increase in his pension from him. He begs the cardinal to grant it to him, because he would be astonished, even indignant, to know that he cannot eat his fill. He could not find a more trustworthy beggar
