EINSTEIN Albert (1879-1955)
L.A.S. "Papa" with drawing,[Paris] November 8, 1929, to his son Hans Albert EINSTEIN, Dortmund; 2 pages small in-4, envelope; in German.
About conferences in Paris on his new theory.
Einstein is in Paris to give lectures ("ein paar Vorträge zu halten", and makes the necessary arrangements to spend a night with Hans Albert in Dortmund on the way back, if he is not completely exhausted ("wenn ich nicht ganz kaput bin"). He is staying at the German Legation. Then it addresses three topics, in numbered paragraphs: 1) he gives him advice on Hans Albert's work on a patent; 2) he offers him chairs that were in the Zurich apartment (with 2 drawings of these chairs, the first one deleted); 3) he transmits an invitation from Professor Ludwig Hopf of the "technischen Hochschule in Aachen" (Aachen), who had given Hans Albert a wonderful railway when he was a child ("eine wunderbar Eisenbahn geschenkt hat, als Du klein warst"), it could be an excursion in his infernal vehicle ("dein Teufels-Fahrzeug").
He now has to climb on a trapeze and give a lecture in French on his new theory at the Poincaré Institute. It will be a difficult ordeal. And he has almost another week of this kind ahead of him! ("Jetzt muss ich dann gleich aufs Trapez und im Inst. Poincaré über meine was born Theorie französische vortragen. Es wird eine infernalische
Strapaze sein. Und ich lives fast eine Woche solcher Art vor mir !")
At least living in the Legation makes it more difficult to reach...
