Amusante lettre après ses concerts à Hambourg et son apprentissage du vélocipède. Hermann BEHN (1857-1927), pianist and Kapellmeister à Hambourg, ami de Mahler, était célèbre pour ses arrangements pour piano, des opéras de Wagner notamment. An avril-mai 1895, Mahler, venu à Hambourg conductor of the concerts organisés par son agent berlinois Hermann WOLFF (1845-1902), a habité chez ses amis Behn ("Pension Behn"), Oberstraße 87. Il acheta un vélocipède, et apprit à le conduire.] Il rapporte plaisamment sa conversation de deux heures avec Hermann Wolff, assez confuse et décousue, notamment au sujet du rejet par Behn de ses propositions, et des concerts que Mahler doit diriger.
