CAIN GEORGES (1853-1919) - JOUAS CHARLES (1866-1942) The Seine du Point-du-Jour at Bercy. Paris, At the expense of two amateurs, 1927. In-4, red morocco, large decoration formed of sets of straight and broken gilt filets with diamond-shaped interlacing on the plates, ribbed back decorated with the same decoration, blue morocco lining decorated with filets, fine gold and cold gilt lace and red morocco scroll, red moire guards, gilt edges on witnesses, preserved cover, red half morocco shirt with flaps and case (G. Mercier, 1934). Original edition illustrated with 44 etchings by Charles JOUAS. Edition of 130 copies on vellum from Rives à la cuve, this one (n° 22), one of the 30 leading ones, includes two additional suites of etchings, one in first and the other in second state. A unique copy enriched with 50 original drawings or sketches in colour by Charles Jouas with captions, sometimes forming true variants. Enclosed, bound in fine binding: Henri BERALDI, Un illustrateur à Paris. Charles Jouas, 1927. In-4 of four folios printed in 50 copies, illustrated with two etchings by Jouas, including their edition in two states and enriched with two original drawings by Jouas, one having been used for the illustration, and an additional etching in four signed states. Five long autograph letters signed by Charles Jouas to Henri Marcus concerning his book (with envelopes preserved). Very beautiful copy, perfectly bound by Mercier.
