GIDE André (1869-1951)
Three signed autograph letters addressed to Francis JAMMES, Richard HEYD, and Alfred VALLETTE. - Autograph letter signed to his friend Francis Jammes, Paris, December 22, 1931, two pages in-8 in ink on paper. Beautiful and friendly letter from Gide. "My dear Jammes, all astonished and moved when I saw your handwriting again. All my respects to Mrs. Francis Jammes, and for you the best memories of an old affection that has not died out." - Autograph letter signed to his Swiss publisher Richard Heyd, April 13, 1949, four pages in four in ink on paper, autograph envelope. "Dear Richard, any note from you will be most welcome if it tells me that you have returned safely to the conjugo and have not had to pay for the fatigue. Must I say again how happy I was to see you again? You felt it, didn't you? And hence the impulse that made me rush to you everything I could imagine that would please you. But now we must be a little disillusioned about the secret (Claudel and Jammes). As for the first one, "we" (especially Mrs. Theo, but not her alone, and myself) makes me understand the indecency of publishing, me, and you, letters so flattering to me and responding so well to cus
