VAN DONGEN KEES (1877-1968)
Meeting of six autograph letters, five of which are signed and two with an original drawing addressed to his mistress Léa JACOB JASMY. Monza, Milan, Paris, May-July 1926, set of 11 pages in-4 and in-8 in ink. Meeting of 6 autograph letters, 5 of which are signed and 2 containing an original drawing addressed to Léa Jacob, known as Jacob Jasmy, a figure of Parisian couture, and 4 autograph envelopes. Van Dongen reports to his mistress the details of his trip and his Exhibition at the Mostra Internazionale delle Arte Decorative in Monza and takes the opportunity to describe the Italians to her: "They make a gossip about Italians if you heard them shouting at the newspapers in the street you would have fun and shout like them [...]". He adds to this correspondence with a humorous original drawing ("Here is a drawing of me in my bed. If you don't see anything, it's because there's a lot of smoke in the room") and a beautiful drawing in ink reproducing the flowery castle of Château-l'Évêque in contrast with the Parisian rain that he represented in the lower part of the sheet. Enclosed: 1 newspaper article Le lundi de Van Dongen.
