ARTAUD, Antonin
Autograph letter signed. Paris, [circa 1932-1933]. 2 p. on 1 f. in-4 (26.6 x 20.3 cm). Autograph letter signed to an unknown addressee. Artaud is probably referring to Büchner's play Woyzeck, which he aspires to stage: "A considerable emotion, and this emotion has been maliciously translated by the fact that I have been asked to translate it and publish it immediately in the journal Der Querschnitt". ...I am told that the exhibition halls at the Porte de Versailles are sometimes free, and I believe that they could be used for a show, and their remoteness is not an obstacle, since it is a place where one is used to go to every new fair. In any case, if nothing can be found, I'm prepared to settle for a theatre as long as it's arranged in a certain way. I'm looking forward to receiving an answer from you so that I can prepare in detail the first show I will give. " PROVENANCE: Sale Paris, Artcurial, May 2, 2007, lot 244. Tears in the folds, some stains.
