JACOB, Max
Meeting of 7 signed autograph letters. Quimper, Paris, Saint-Benoît-sur- Loire, 1919-1934. 14 p. sur 5 ff. and 2 double ff. in-8 and in-12 (various sizes), 3 envelopes. A collection of 7 autograph letters signed to its publishers, brothers Albert and Robert Émile-Paul. Max Jacob evokes the publication of his texts: "Are you thinking, my dear Sirs, of the Terrain Bouchaballe? Have you determined the time when we "deliver it to the beasts"? "(September 24, 1921.) Jacob gives instructions to his publishers and evokes his disagreement with Gaston Gallimard: "Hurry up and publish Bouchaballe. I know that Gallimard intends to publish the novel he has of me this winter. He won't be able to do so if you get ahead of him, and I would be delighted if we could get it published. "(September 18, 1922.) An animosity towards Gaston Gallimard that was expressed again in 1929: "Gallimard killed the man of letters in me: I will tell you the details. But his sadistic wickedness has been an evil for a good, for by throwing me into painting, he has given me a situation that has been magnificent up to now. "(December 27, 1929.) Traces of folds, a few freckles.
