In-12 (18.4 x 11.2 cm), steel blue half-marquin with corners, spine with ribs, gilt head, preserved covers and spine, case (Devauchelle). 4] ff. of which 1 white, 308 p., [2] ff. of which 1 white. Original edition. One of the 10 copies of the head print on paper from Japan (#9). It is here enriched with an autograph letter signed by Maeterlinck to Pierre Louÿs, with his envelope: "Unfortunately I must confess to you that at the moment I have nothing that I believe is worthy of your review. " PROVENANCE: Marcel de Merre (ex-libris). Broken case, partially cracked jaws, darkened back. Extremely rare small stains on the paper; folds marked to the letter.
