Autograph manuscript. S. l., [ca. 1913-1915]. 2 p. in-4 (26.6 x 21.5 cm). Autograph manuscript of a poem entitled "Convulsions", on letterhead of the Hôtel Brevoort in New York. This manuscript presents two different versions of the same poem, on two separate pages. The first five lines are identical: "I thought she was the best woman. But she showed me her prospects hidden by a pregnancy. What a dreadful taste. " This poem was probably written during one of Picabia's many stays in New York, between 1913 and 1915, during which he stayed at the Hotel Brevoort. In 1913, Picabia took part in the famous Armory Show, where he met with considerable success. PROVENANCE: Sale Paris, Binoche and Giquello, 20 May 2008, lot 456. Scattered freckles.
