SAINT EXUPÉRY, Antoine de
Autograph manuscript in pencil. [Late 1941]. 2 ff. in-4 (28 x 21.6 cm), American Esleeck Fidelity Onion Skin paper. Moving first drafts of the dedication for Pilote de Guerre. There are several rewritings of this dedication, with numerous erasures and layout tests, which must have been made after the manuscript was written in New York in 1941. Saint Exupéry glorifies men who have gone down in history, beyond the heroes of novels: "To Commander Alias / To my comrades in Group 2/33 / And in particular to Captain Moreau and Lieutenants Azambre and Dutertre who were war observers. " A silhouette drawn and crossed out in pencil on the back of the last page. PROVENANCE: Anonymous sale, lot 264 (Paris, 15 June 2010).
