SIMENON, Georges
Signed autograph manuscript entitled "L'auberge d'Ingrannes". Lakeville, October 31, 1950. Autograph manuscript in pencil, signed and dated, consisting of 51 dense pages in two blocks of correspondence. Fully autographed manuscripts by typewriter enthusiast Georges Simenon are extremely rare. This one is all the more special in that it was written while the writer was bedridden. It is accompanied by the fact sheet used by Simenon as a memo on the characters and plan of his plot. This kind of document is only exceptionally preserved. Here it is written on an envelope on which also appears a list of names (Horwitz, Bazin, Picasso, Pellegrin, Dior...). The manuscript has a few erasures and additions. The pages are numbered by Simenon, chapter by chapter. The text of the Auberge d'Ingrannes was first published in a serial in the Populaire de Paris, from February 19 to April 4, 1951, then, the same year, in Paris, at the Cité presses, under the title le temps d'Anaïs. To this set are attached: - 3 L. A. S. de Georges Simenon, Porquerolles, 1937. Correspondence relating to Simenon's collaboration with the newspaper Marianne: As you know, I have so far given Marianne one novel a year. There is also mention of her report "Long cours sur les rivières et canaux", which appeared in this newspaper on May 12, 1937. Large brown spot on each of the letters. - 3 signed typewritten letters, 1986-1987 (2 p. in-8 and 1 p. in-4). - 2 excerpts from his novels in English: Tropic Moon and Aboard the Aquitaine. - a copy of 3 large typewritten sheets listing Simenon's works published in the U.S.S.S.R. - 4 signed maps, including 3 autographs, 1984-1987. - 1 postcard showing the Grande rue d'Ingrannes (Loiret), on which appears the inn. Cover of the first block and some detached ff.; some ff. fractured at the foot, without missing from the text.
