CHIRICO Giorgio de (1888-1978)
Signed autograph letter addressed to Marcel ABRAHAM Paris, "this Tuesday", 2 pages in-12 in ink on paper. (Central folds, slits and small lack). He apologizes for bothering him to ask him a favor. "But it's nothing, it's just a few words. On my passport to enter France, every time I leave, I need a permanent visa from the French Prefecture of Police". He came the day before to get it, but was told that being Italian, it would be better to be able to present a letter from a "known Frenchman, attesting that I am an honourable person. So, dear friend, would you write me this letter? Basically a few words would suffice; for example, by stating that you know me, that I am a very famous painter in Paris, belonging to the so-called Paris School, that I am a Francophile, that I have never interfered in politics, in fact a perfect gentleman! ...] It would also be nice if the letter was written on paper with Ministry letterhead. And then I hope we'll meet again one evening. I'll show you some paintings and then we'll talk. "
