PISSARRO Camille (1830-1903)
Signed autograph letter addressed to his daughter-in-law Esther Eragny-sur-Epte, December 12, 1885, 4 pages in-8 in ink. "...] nobody understands what a painting is, the more I go the more I find current ideas hopeless, not only in art but in everything.... ...] you speak to me ... of rare colours for your frame etc. etc. Fortunately I was able to keep the silk end not "pink" but Grenadine past, I will try to obtain this colour with vermilion, light chrome yellow and perhaps green-verro. or cobalt blue ...]. The best way to be free is not to delegate one's powers to anyone ...".
