Meditation on the Last Judgement, signed poem and signed autograph letter addressed to Joseph DELTEIL S.l., April 9, 1926. 3 pages in-8 in ink on paper, envelope preserved. After the literary scandal caused by his novel Cholera published in 1923, Joseph Delteil published in the special issue devoted to Max Jacob in the magazine Le Disque vert, a very beautiful portrait of the poet in which he describes with admiration, Jacob's original relationship with religion, a second portrait will appear in his essay my "Spiritual Loves". It is in thanks to this portrait that Max Jacob replies by sending him his autograph poem: "My dear Delteil, in response to your charming portrait, I take the liberty of sending you these forty verses, I sometimes do in verse my daily meditation as a Pharisee. I throw to the fire meditation and poetry: make as many of these as possible. An act of humility should not produce the opposite effect [...]".
