MALLARMÉ Stéphane (1842-1898)
Signed autograph card addressed to Catullus MENDÈS July 19, 1895. 2 pages in-16 in ink. Elegant note about the nomination of his "Dear Catullus" as Knight of the Legion of Honour: "we have the same joy as if you were a commander: although late, today's repair completes an embarrassment. Mallarmé feels sad "to be in the country and not to be one of the first to take a hand and see the living ribbon: since the morning, I have been considering a geranium for you". Mallarmé also congratulates Marguerite Moreno, wife of the writer and poet Catullus Mendes. An autograph note by Claude ROULET is attached to this letter. A business card signed by Émile ZOLA to Louis WINZELER (Lausanne, 1880, envelope preserved) is also attached.
