"Fr. d'Orléans" and "Fr. O.» (the first one incomplete from the beginning) with original watercolour DRAWINGS, Frankfurt and Geneva 1852-1868; 9 pages in-8 (missing the bifeuillet from the beginning) and 4 pages in-4. Beautiful letters illustrated with watercolours. Frankfurt 24 October 1852, to a lady. After disappointing first impressions of Switzerland, he found it charming; four beautiful watercolour drawings bear witness to this: peasant with his cow, view of Bern, peasant woman with her headdress, portrait of a woman in city dress.but the canton of Vaud is uninteresting, "a democratic club in a completely democratised country with the hypocritical and cockroach-like exterior of Protestantism". The future of France grieves him; a landing on the coasts of England, "the only great enterprise before which the first Napoleon has retreated", could launch "a war which does not require military knowledge and which can be prepared in the same office that plotted the coup de main du deux-décembre", and the Empire proclaimed, "what will happen within two months", the first part of the show will be played ... Joinville takes comfort, however, in the conviction that when he returns to the true, the just and the reasonable, "he will come back to us. ...] My father was 41 years old when he saw his homeland again, which did not prevent him from having a long and successful career there".... Geneva 25 July 1868. Under a large watercolor painting occupying half the page and representing the "bridge of Basel", he thanks for the good letter "whose reading has made my brother and me happy [...]. What a pity that we could not all continue to travel together"... He adds "a few small Swiss sketches", two pretty watercolours: a view of Geneva from "l'île Jean-Jacques Ruisseau", and Lake Geneva, "blue as the sea and which reminded me of Naples"... An a.s. map by Françoise d'Orléans, duchess of CHARTRES, Saint-Firmin 8 December 1920, in Faur
