Napoléon Ier (1769-1821) - Lot 951
Napoléon Ier (1769-1821) AUTHORIZED MANUSCRIPT, [March ? 1794] ; 1 page oblong small in-4 (13 lines). Autograph project for the defense of Ajaccio. This manuscript is linked to the project of an expedition to Corsica, to protect the island from an English attack. [On March 24th 1794, the Representative of the Saliceti people wrote in Paris that he had instructed General Buonaparte to go to Nice in order to prepare everything for the success of the expedition to Corsica]. "Park Battery. The Battery of the Park will be composed of 3 facades, one looking at the passage between Aspreto and the citadel, the second at the entrance to the port, the third inside the port. It will have 9 cannon guns mounted on coastal guns and there is a house that will serve as a guard house. "Batterie du Parc" A battery can be built to beat the batimens who would emboss themselves against the citadel and defend the landing in the village of St. Francesco. It has the advantage of forcing the batimens to stand off the coast. It will be of 4 pieces of cannon placed on the coast". This paragraph has been crossed out] [Located next to the birthplace of Napoleon Bonaparte in Ajaccio, the hills of Aspretto dominate the bay. It is in Aspretto that under incredible conditions Napoleon came to collect his mother fleeing the troops of Paoli on May 31, 1793]. A l.a.s. of the Queen of Spain ISABELLE II of Bourbon, March 15, 1875, is attached to the Marshal of Mac-Mahon (1 page in-8 with the crowned fleur-de-lys).
