DELIBES Léo (1836-1891)
MANUSCRIT MUSICAL autograph signed " L.D. ", Les Trois Oiseaux. Duo for women's voices, 1877; 5 pages oblong in-fol. 1 Duo for women's voices and piano. This duet for two sopranos and piano, based on a poem by François COPPÉE: " J'ai dit au Ramier : pars "..., in F at 3/4, is marked Allegretto. It is, writes Gérard Condé, "a graceful fantasy on an arpeggio formula passing from one voice to another and from voices to piano, with charming suspensions and superimpositions of exquisite sound. The three stanzas, moreover, are different ". The manuscript, in brown ink on the front of 5 sheets of 14-line Italian-style Lard-Esnault paper, in three systems of 4 staves per page (2 systems on the last page), has some erasures and corrections. It is signed and dated at the end "L. D. February 77". This duet was published posthumously in the collection Seize Mélodies (Heugel, 1891, no. 11).
