LISZT Franz (1811-1886) - Lot 1311
LISZT Franz (1811-1886) L.A.S. " F. Liszt", Berlin 6 March [1842?], to H.E. Baron Wilhelm-August von TAUBENHEIM, at Stuttgart; 2 pages in-8, address with red wax seal and crowned coat of arms (broken). Recommendation from a singer to the director of the Royal Court Theatre in Stuttgart. "I don't know by what fatality I am always reduced to begging from you, dear Baron! Nothing discourages me and nothing can stop me. My first recommended singer may be whistling (I am assured), but I would still recommend you for a second. God or the Devil helping this one will be happier. Miss Ottenburg (Prima Donna of the Weymar Theatre) has no other pretension than to give some Gast-rollen in Stuttgart, and perhaps you will be able to reserve several evenings for her without too much trouble. She has a nice voice, sings pleasantly, is a good musician and a good and kind person - all this to take or leave - but please try to get her! And in the worst case (completely unbearable) don't take it out on me"... He adds as a postscript: "Couldn't you one of these mornings address me some Pianist whose work I would have to cut? »
