MANUSCRIT MUSICAL, First top cover of Perseus; small in-fol.of 26 pages (and the first white leaf), bound in granite brown basane, smooth spine decorated with cold-stamped vegetal motifs, cold-stamped title on the top cover perSee. i.DeSSuS, gilt coat of arms on the covers (early 18th century binding). Beautiful period copy of the first violin tops of the opera Perseus. Perseus, tragedy in music on a libretto by Philippe Quinault, was premiered at the Royal Academy of Music on 17 April 1682, and given at Versailles on 21 July the following year; it was published the same year. Copy bound with the arms of François II de BOYER DE BANDOL, mortar president at the Parliament of Provence, who lived from 1673 to 1745 (OHR, plate no. 1507, iron no. 1).
