Massenet" or "Massenet", 1876-1896, most of them by Gaston KNOSP; 79 pages in-8 or in-12, most with envelope, tabbed, blue morocco binding, spine ribbed with fl euron boxes, triple gilt fillets on covers, large inner morocco frame with 4 gilt fillets and ornaments, red moiré silk lining and endpapers, slipcase (David). Nice correspondence to a former student, composer and ethnomusicologist. [Gaston KNOSP (Milan 1874-Brussels 1942), composer, music critic and musicographer, student of Massenet, joined his father, an entrepreneur in Hanoi, in 1898; charged then with a mission on Far Eastern music, he was also interested in African music; Puccini consulted him for certain themes of Madame Butterfl y.]. April 22 [1877], thanking for the interest taken in reading his score, before the premiere of the King of Lahore... November 24, 1877, [to M. de Saint-Hilaire]: "I have the project to ask you... - I will tell you this - it is a duet of the King of Lahore... and a violin solo!!!!
