PUCCINI Giacomo (1858-1924)
L.A.S. "Giacomo Puccini", [Paris] December 15, 1906, to Pierre LOUŸS; 4 pages in-8, envelope; in Italian. Interesting letter on his project for the opera Conchita after La Femme et le pantin de Louÿs. Madame Butterfly is postponed after Christmas ("La Butterfly è rimessa a dopo Noël") because of an indisposition of Madame Carré; Puccini leaves the next day for Italy and will return for the premiere. He apologizes for not having come to see Louÿs because of the long rehearsals ("questo benedette e lunghe répetitions !!"). Conchita is more and more in his head and heart. He is still looking for a good curtain fall for the 2nd tableau, but is sure to find it. He leaves on January 5th for New York, but will go back to Spain to study the atmosphere. He tells Louÿs his admiration... " Concita entra sempre più nella mia testa e nel mio cuore. Penso ancora ad una buone calata di rideau per il 2° tableau ! Ma son certo che si troverà. Il 5 gennajo parto per New York. A ritorno andrò in Spagna per studiere de visu l'ambiente "...
