RAVEL Maurice (1875-1937)
L.S. "Maurice Ravel", Le Belvédère, Montfort l'Amaury 3/7 [for 31 August] 1923, to his friend Marie GAUDIN in Saint-Jean-de-Luz; 1 page in-8 typed with her monogram and address, address on the back. "It's bad luck: the day I returned to Montfort (2 weeks after the operation), I crushed two fingers - one on each hand - with a folding chair. I'll be two months without being able to do anything, and I think I'll have to give up my dream of becoming a virtuoso. ...tomorrow morning the doctor has to try and get my fingers back in place. As long as the transplant isn't necessary. I'm tired of operations. Don't think I've hired a typist: I'm less tired of typing; I'm talking about the hands, because for the bibbot!... " L'intégrale, n° 1622.
