4 autograph MUSICAL MANUSCRIPTS signed "Henri Sauguet," [Quatre Mélodies sur des poëmes de Schiller], 1928-1929; 3, 4, 4 and 2 pages and a quarter in-fol. (35 x 27.5 cm). Complete set of Four Melodies on Poems by Schiller, for voice and piano. Friedrich SCHILLER's poems are translated into French. The manuscripts are written in black ink on 20-line paper. Under the lyrics written by Sauguet, a singer (or a female singer?) copied them in large handwriting in blue ink, to make them more legible for singing Le souvenir : " Il éclipsait tous les jeunes gens par sa beauté angélique "... ; Andante in F 3/4 ; dedicated " À la mémoire de mon ami Christian Hardouin ", and dated at the end " Paris, 22 octobre 1928 " (3 p.). Le pèlerin : " J'étais encore au printemps de ma vie "... ; Allegro in G at 2/4 ; dedicated " à la chère mémoire de mon ami Christian Hardouin ", and dated at the end " Toulouse, Février 1929 " (4 p.). L'apparition : " Quand mon ombre fugitive voltige autour de toi "... ; moderately animated in E at 4/4 ; dated at the end " Paris, 2 novembre 1928 " and dedicated " to the memory of my friend Christian Hardouin " (4 p.). The original title Thécla, ou l'apparition has been partly crossed out. Les guides de la vie : " Il est deux génies qui te guident "... ; Andante molto in A flat at 6/8 ; dated at the end " Paris 20-21 Xbre 1928 " (2 pages and a quarter). Enclosed is the printed score of Les Quatre Mélodies sur des poëmes by Schiller (Rouart Lerolle, 1929), one of the 7 copies on Japon Dujardin (No. 2, signed by the composer; plus 9 L.A.S. or postcards from Sauguet to Benoist-Méchin (plus an a.s. postcard by André Cœuroy).
