AURIC Georges (1899-1983). MANUSCRIT MUSICAL autograph signed " Georges Auric ", Les Matelots, ballet, 1924-1925 ; cover with title and 66 pages in-fol. ( title folder repaired with scotch tape). Music of this famous ballet for the Ballets Russes. It is for Serge de Diaghilev's Ballets Russes that Georges Auric composed this ballet in 5 tableaux on an argument by Boris Kochno. The premiere took place at the Théâtre de la Gaîté-Lyrique on 17 June 1925, with the orchestra under the direction of Marc-César Scotto. Léonide Massine had signed the choreography, with Vera Nemchinova (the Young Girl), Lydia Sokolova (the Friend), Léon Woïdzikovsky, Théodore Slavinsky and Serge Lifar (the 3 Sailors); the curtain, set and costumes were by Pedro Pruna, a young Catalan painter. André Messager noted that Auric's music had "liveliness, verve and humour"; it was published by Heugel in 1925 (stamp of the Heugel Archives on 3 pages). This manuscript for piano for 4 hands is written in black ink on 24-line paper; it is dated at the end in blue ink: "May 1924-March 1925. Issoire.
