DELIBES Leo (1836-1891). MUSICAL MANUSCRIPT autograph signed "Léo Delibes", Overture; 4 pages oblong in-fol. of a bifolium (first page a little soiled). Overture to his operetta Six Demoiselles à marier. The operetta Six Demoiselles à marier, based on a libretto by Jaime fils and Choler, was premiered at the Bouffes-Parisiens, on November 12, 1856, with Tayau, Miss Garnier and Miss Macé . This manuscript of the Overture, in the piano version, is notated in brown ink on 14-line oblong paper, with 5 systems of 2 staves per page; it has 219 measures (without the reprise). Beginning in a "M[ouvemen]t de marche", this overture continues in a "M[ouvemen]t de Boléro": "It is lively, animated, original, and its bolero movement is very successful" (Henri de Curzon). The score was published by Heugel.
