HONEGGER Arthur (1892-1955) and DÉSORMIÈRE... - Lot 1137 - Ader
HONEGGER Arthur (1892-1955) and DÉSORMIÈRE Roger (1898-1963). MANUSCRIT MUSICAL autograph by Roger DÉSORMIÈRE, Cavalcade d'amour, [1939] ; 87 pages in-fol. Collaborative film scores . Cavalcade d'amour is a film by Raymond BERNARD, based on a script by Jean Anouilh and Jean Aurenche, shot in July 1939 and released on January 17, 1940, with Claude Dauphin, Michel Simon, Saturnin Fabre, and Simone Simon in the main roles. Would Désormière have orchestrated the themes given by Honegger, of which we only know with certainty for this film an O Salutaris published separately? Or would he have written the music for the parts not treated by Honegger and Milhaud? The study of this unknown manuscript, confronted with the film, should make it possible to establish this. In any case, it is Roger Désormière, a remarkable conductor, who conducted the music
