Massenet", "Massenet", "ton vieux papa" or initials, and 4 L.A., [1879?]-1912, most of them to HIS WIFE or to his daughter Juliette MASSENET; 31 pages in various formats, a few envelopes. Autobiographical note giving information on his family, his studies, his masters, his prizes, and the list of works "composed and published from 1868 to 1878"; "at present: professor of composition at the National Conservatory of Music", he has been a member of the Institute since November 30, 1878... [ca. 1907 ?...], to his wife, mentioning a session at Astruc's with the author of a ballet, and Gunsbourg's wish to have this "for February on the same evening as Thérèse "... Correspondence at the end of his life, to his wife in a cure in Vichy and his daughter in Saint-Honoré-les-Bains (Nièvre). Saturday [July 13]: "If I didn't have to think of you, life would be desolate & empty"... On the 15th, he hopes to go to Egreville on August 1, then "if, oh! what if!... (what music!) if my condition seems to improve... I still think I'll go to the sea in the first week of September... Tuesday 16th: "In the silence, in the heat, in the torpor... I live"...
