Massenet made corrections in red ink and blue pencil, and sometimes in pencil lead: rewriting of a few bars in red ink, cuts in blue pencil or made by pinning leaves, scenic indications and notes: "see the vocalises sung by Miss Sibyl Sanderson "... Manon was Massenet's greatest success, after its premiere at the Opéra-Comique on January 19, 1884. It was first performed in Italian in 1885 in New York, and in Italy on October 19, 1893 in Milan, at the Teatro Carcano. Later, Manon was performed in Italian in Spain, Portugal, Malta, Greece and Constantinople . Provenance: HEUGEL family archives and memora
