MOZART Wolfgang Amadeus (1756-1791). MANUSCRIT... - Lot 1168 - Ader
MOZART Wolfgang Amadeus (1756-1791). MANUSCRIT MUSICAL autograph, Magnificat [K.321a], [1779]; 1 oblong page in-4 (22.7 x 30.3 cm; paper a little crumpled , lightly wetted). Precious page, the only testimony of a lost work. This page offers the beginning of a missing Magnificat of which only these 7 bars are known. It is very close to the Magnificat (of which it is perhaps a first idea) of the Solemn Vespers of Sunday or Vesperæ solemn of Dominica K.321, composed in 1779 in Salzburg at the request of Archbishop Colloredo; Mozart was then twenty-three years old. Written in brown ink on a 10-line Italian-style paper, it presents 7 bars on a system of 9 staves. Mozart inscribed the autograph title at the top of the page. The work is in C major at 4/4, with the indication " All[egr]o con spirito ", for soloists and choir, orchestra and organ. The orchestra consists of violins I and II (Violini), 2 trumpets (Clarini), timpani (Tympani), organ and bass (Organo e Bassi). The 4 voice parts are soprano ("Canto"), alto, tenor (Tenore) and bass (Basso), with in the parts the indications "Tutti " and "Solo". The seven bars give the words: "Magnificat anima
