MOZART Wolfgang Amadeus (1756-1791). Idomeneo Rè di Creta. Opera Seria in 3. Atti ... aggiustata per il Piano Forte di Giov. Wenzel (Leipzig bey Schmid und Rauh, [1797]); an oblong volume in-fol. (31 x 45 cm) of [2 ff.]-182 pages, slightly used cardboard of the time. Rare first edition of the opera Idoménéo ( issue C of Haverkamp). Title engraved by Joh. Berka at. Prague with vignette engraved by C. Seipp from Leipzig. Printed list of subscribers. Engraved music, in large format and with wide margins. This reduction for voice and piano is due to the Prague composer Johann WENZEL dit Giovanni Punto (1746-1803). Title page stitched in the margin (with slight browning); small missing in the lower margin of p. 101-102; wet spots in the lower margins of several ff.; a few small wormholes ; a few freckles. Rare and sought-after edition, of which only six copies were listed by Haberkamp. The orchestral score was not published until 1801; only one other opera by Mozart, Don Giovanni, was published completely before the composer's death in December 1791. Nice wide-margined copy
