SATIE Erik (1866-1925). L.A.S. "Erik Satie",... - Lot 1197 - Ader
SATIE Erik (1866-1925). L.A.S. "Erik Satie", Arcueil-Cachan 2 October 1920, [in CARYATHIS]; 2 pages in-8 (2 small holes in the bottom of the binder, without touching the text; paper slightly yellowed). Unpublished letter on La Belle Excentrique . He acknowledges receipt of 500 F, "a sum which brings to one thousand francs (1000) what I have received to date out of the fifteen hundred francs (1500) agreed between you and me on the subject of La Belle Excentrique. And the work? Don't forget to give me a sign, dear Madam". He had lunch with POULENC on Thursday: "He has to see you for his "thing". AURIC, on the other hand, hasn't returned yet. He's having a sort of "sleeping over" in Sorgues en Vaucluse; but he won't be long in coming back & to come and kiss us politely " ... [ The dancer Élisabeth Toulemon (1891-1971), known as "Caryathis", had commissioned, for a forthcoming show, music from Satie, Auric, Honegger, Milhaud and Poulenc. The contract with Satie was signed on August 15, 1920; Caryathis' show, premiered at the Coliseum on June 15, 1921, was a great success. Caryathis will marry Marcel Jouhandeau in 1928.]
