Manuscript of his mythical song Lili Marleen. It was at the request of the singer Lale Andersen that Schultze set to music in 1938 the poem Lied eines jungen Wachtpostens written in 1915 by the soldier Hans Leip (1893-1983); Lili Marleen was first a commercial failure, before becoming a worldwide success during the war, taken up in 1944 by Marlene Dietrich who renamed her Lili Marlene ]. Under the title Lili Marleen, and the name of the lyricist "(Hans Leip 1915)", Norbert Schultze wrote the melody (12 bars) of the song, Moderato, with the lyrics of the five verses: "Vor der Kaserne, vor dem großen Tor"; he signed and dated it at the top: "Norbert Schultze 1938 ". On the back, in 1948, Schultze inscribed this dedication: "Für meinen Freund Gilbert Johnson und seine reizende Frau Liselotte zur Erinnerung an den Braunschweiger Heimatkomponisten Norbert Schultze.
