VERDI Giuseppe (1813-1901). MANUSCRIT MUSICAL autograph signed "G. Verdi", Traviata, London 25 April 1862; 1 page oblong in-8 (2 photos attached). Nice album page with the famous aria by Violetta in La Traviata. End of the great scene in Act II between Alfredo and Violetta, who, before leaving her lover forever, proclaims her love and sings: "Amami Alfredo amami quantio t'amo Amami Alfredo quantio t'amo. Addio! " (10 bars, song and lyrics), with the famous theme of the Prelude, "a paragon of the declaration of love in romantic opera, a phrase of fire, a true orgasm of despair", according to Stéphane Goldet. Inspired by the novel by Alexandre Dumas fils La Dame aux camélias, this nineteenth opera by Verdi was premiered in Venice on March 6, 1853, and was performed with great success throughout the world . In April 1862, Verdi was in London for the Universal Exhibition, where he was commissioned to write an Inno delle Nazioni.
