On reverse side red cd CABINET DU MINISTRE RÉPUBLIQUE FRANÇAISE - MINISTÈRE DE L'INTÉRIEUR and cd of arrival in Jersey OF 25 70. Letter from Albert BARRE to his daughter Lucie. Fold carried by the JACQUARD lost at sea off the Scilly Islands (3rd repechage on Bryher Island). Attached, reply to this letter dated 26 December 1870 20c obl. GC 2046 (Lille). Balloon attempt from Lille, handwritten mention of arrival "received 18 February 1871". Also enclosed, a telegram signed Barre (Lucie) of Jersey, dated 27 December 1870 addressed to Paris: "Letters received". Interesting and rare set concerning the Engraver General of the Mint.
