Original edition in French, translated by Sétier and augmented by the revolutions of the colonies from 1823 to the present day. Borba de Moraes, vol. II, p. 287. - Sabin, n°91613. It is adorned with a large folding map of South America and 6 beautiful coloured plates engraved by Adam, 5 of which are folded, mainly showing inhabitants in costume and a view of the fortress of Calao with the city of Lima in the distance. Very rare report of this traveller who spent about twenty years in South America, with many details on the customs of the Indians and the main events that led this part of the continent towards independence, in particular through the heroic figure of Simon Bolivar. A copy in the figure of Marie-Louise, Duchess of Parma, former Empress of the French. Freckles, browning to a few leaves. Brown ink stain on the last three pages of Volume I.
