Paris, De l'Imprimerie de Crapelet, Maradan, An X-1801. 7 volumes in-8, red long-grained demimaroquin, figure in the center, smooth decorated spine (contemporary binding). First edition of the French translation. It was established by Alexandre-Joseph de Bassinet, who dedicated it to Alexander I, Autocrat of all Russia and Georgia, Protector of the Military and Religious Order of Saint John of Jerusalem . An important monograph due to a British pastor who spent nearly twenty years in Russia where he was chaplain of the Anglican Church in Kronstadt and St. Petersburg. The author details all aspects of this empire: history, geography, ethnography, economy, institutions, etc.. Copy with the number A undetermined.
