First edition of the French translation. It was established by Alexandre-Joseph de Bassinet, who dedicated it to Alexander I, Autocrat of all Russia and Georgia, Protector of the Military and Religious Order of Saint John of Jerusalem . An important monograph due to a British pastor who spent nearly twenty years in Russia where he was chaplain of the Anglican Church in Kronstadt and St. Petersburg.
