L.A.S. "De Montereul", Paris 20 July 16[4]8, to a King's Counsellor and Maître des requêtes (name cancelled); 1 page in-fol., address on reverse (engraved portrait attached). Very rare letter from a mazarinade. [Pierre DU PELLETIER († 1680), poet, author of mazarinades; here it is probably about Le Vrai portrait du père du peuple et le grand support de la France (1648) or Le Couronnement de la paix, ou les Vœus du peuple pour le retour du Roy and on that of Mgr le duc d'Orléans en la ville de Paris (1649)]. "I am sending you the Vows of France which Mons. Pelletier took the trouble to have printed without wanting to put his name on it, in order to feel that in his humble, acoustinate, lordly humility, good spirits will despise the glory that proceeds from little. It is not that I see him speaking ainsy of a work in which the whole of France should take such a part, since he deals with the most important affairs of state, of which the wickedness tries to inform the divine Majesty "...
