Set of handwritten telegrams. Buenos Aires, Santiago etc. March 3-15, 1929. Set. 11 p. in-4 (various sizes), most of them on the letterhead of the "Telegrafo del Estado (Chile)". Set of 10 telegrams of congratulations sent to Mermoz after his double crossing of the Andes, with Henry de la Vaulx and Alexandre Collenot. This journey had been punctuated by terrible adventures. These messages are written by Thomaz, Portait, Sieyes, Raggio, Mariano Puga, Almonacid, Commander Merino, Undersecretary Carvajal, the French legation and Alfredo J. Rouillon. On the back of one of them, Mermoz drew a pencil sketch mentioning Santa Rosa and Salino. PROVENANCE: Sale, Paris, 11 October 2008, lot M29. Some slight folds, tears and stains.
