SAINT-EXUPÉRY (Antoine de)
Autograph sketchbook. Les Copains. Casablanca (Morocco). 37th of aviation. Casablanca, November 1921. In-8 oblong (24.3 x 18 cm) of 30 ff. white wove paper and grey paper cover, pencil, blur, black and turquoise ink, with 4 coloured bold pastel highlights. Very large sketchbook, containing 37 drawings. They are spread over 30 sheets, as well as the top and bottom sheets. The notebook is signed on the penultimate page. The drawings were executed on the pages of the sketchbook or on other media glued under the window; they are mostly captioned by Saint Exupéry, at the time (turquoise ink) or later (black ink). The indication "Casablanca - Morocco" is written in blue ink on the bottom cover. (OEuvres complètes, I, Bibliothèque de la Pléiade, 2009, p. 713). The notebook that we are presenting sheds new light on a period of his life that is little known. It consists of portraits of comrades reading, playing cards, sleeping, or carrying out their daily activities and statutory chores: 1. "Corporal Segala pilot" (top cover); 2. "The Buddies. Casablanca (Morocco). 37th Air Force"; 3. "What a laugh in Morocco!"; 4. "No, he's not dead...". He's sleeping. Haurie Michel (mechanic)"; 5. "He's dreaming of his next fall... Our ace Charcosset [?] (pilot)"; 6. "The angel who looked like a convict... My frie
