SAINT-EXUPÉRY (Antoine de)
Autograph letter signed. [Casablanca, circa 1925-1927?]. 2 p. on 1 f. in-4 (27.5 x 21.3 cm) of letterhead from the "Taverne Brasserie Petit Poucet" in Casablanca, black ink. Beautiful autograph letter signed to his pilot friends, illustrated with five humorous pen sketches. He is back in Morocco after several weeks of hospitalization in Dakar and convalescence in Agay. "My dear children, I am so kind that I am already writing to you. I am out of order at Casa because Jeannet, in spite of his claims, hasn't asked for a place for me. They didn't even know I was coming. You can tell him in a friendly way that I owe him because I don't like being made fun of. He won't take him to paradise (especially if there is no paradise). I'm very sorry to have left you. You're nice guys that I like. Especially since I made up with Riguelle who is a nice guy. And him with me, who is a nice guy. He did try to sneak me in with the Moors but it failed and I forgive him. And then with a hero like Jeannet, I had nothing to fear. (He even wanted to take me right away and leave the track.) I think Guillaumet continues to make four little ones a day. He should keep one for me. But don't let him get too tired so that there will be some left when I come back. Now it remains for me to thank you for being so kind during my illness, for rubbing me, feeding me, distracting me. I hope to be back with you soon and hold you all tight in my vast heart".
