"NP", Palais de Saint-Cloud 10 April 1813; countersigned by Jean-Baptiste Collin comte de SUSSY, minister of Manufactures and Commerce, Jean-Baptiste de Champagny duc de CADORE, acting minister secretary of state, Denis DECRÈS, minister of Marine and Colonies, and Pierre de SAINT-CRICQ, director general of Customs; 2 pages large in-fol. partly printed, headed Napoleon, Emperor of the French, King of Italy, Protector of the Confederation of the Rhine, Mediator of the Swiss Confederation, &c. &c., vignette and dry stamp with imperial arms (cracks in fold). Permit of navigation at the time of the Continental Blockade, authorizing, under the guarantee of the trading house Bousquet père et fils of Lyon, an American ship (the name is left blank) "to introduce into one of the ports of France, at its choice, cottons, fish oils, dye wood, salted fish and cod ; coffee and sugar from the French colonies, America and Asia; cocoa, all kinds of spices from the islands formerly known as Holland; indigos, mahogany and cabinet wood"...., on condition that he export an equal value of silk fabrics, wines, brandies and other products of French factories ...
