DELACROIX Eugène (1798-1863).
L.A.S. "Eug. Delacroix", Thursday [5 December 1835], to Gustave PLANCHE; 1 page in-8, address. On his work decorating the Salon du Roi at the Palais-Bourbon. "I have interrupted my work because of the darkness of the days; I am not angry, moreover, to forget for a while what I have done. As soon as I return and it is agreeable to you I will let you know. Besides, if you have a moment, come and see me at my place; I am working on a rather large painting [The Battle of Taillebourg]. If you come, let it be at the end of the day; my models come in the morning and I take advantage of the days as much as I can"... Attached is a L.A.S. "Eug. Delacroix", Wednesday [10 August 1836], to the pianist Pierre-Joseph-Guillaume ZIMMERMAN (1 p. in-8, address, tear repaired with tape). He does not remember "if it is tomorrow Thursday or in eight days that you will have THALBERG"...
